Backpacking is one of the best and most simple ways to enjoy the wilderness and the thrill of physical exertion. It is a great way to get to know others and grow in Christ. Our hike is a challenging five-night, 56.7-mile loop. You should expect long days, steep climbs, and tricky creek crossings in the heart of the last true Eastern wilderness. (The North Carolina side of the Smokies) This is a trip for all ages whether you are 14 or 54. You don’t need to be an experienced outdoor enthusiast to go. All you need is a desire to succeed and grow personally.
Grow in Christ
There is something about getting out in nature that can help you tune in to the voice of God. During our hike we will be listening to Gods voice through the reading of the short, but powerful book of Colossians with truths like,
“For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” Colossians 1:13-14
When and Where
We will leave Saturday July 16 at 6:00am and drive about 10 hr to a Camp grounds near our starting point Clingmans Dome the tallest mountain in Tennessee. We will rise early Sunday to begin our hike. The Hike is a loop so we will return to our cars on Thursday, camp and drive back on Friday July 22nd. Although we are beginning the Hike in Tennessee most of the hike will be in North Carolina.
