This summer, from Sunday, July 10 through Saturday, July 16, a group of us from Community of Hope will be spending the week serving with the Cranks Creek Survival Center in Harlan County, Kentucky, founded and led by Bobby and Becky Simpson. The survival center does building and repair projects in an effort to be a helping hand to the community, which is one of the poorest in the state. We will spend the week serving alongside them in their mission, digging deeper in our own faith, and taking some time to get to know and enjoy the beautiful people and scenery of the place.

BASIC INFO:

WHO CAN GO?

This is a trip for all ages 14 and up. Whether you are 14 or 74, you're welcome. We will be working alongside experienced builders who are excited to teach us, so no prior experience is necessary. The only requirements are a positive attitude and a desire to serve and grow.  Invite a family member or friend!

WHEN IS THE TRIP?

Sunday, July 10 through Saturday, July 16.

WHAT is the schedule?

Sunday 7/10: We will attend the 9:00 AM service at Community of Hope and depart shortly after. We will spend the day driving down to Harlan County, and will get settled and have an orientation with Bobby Simpson in the evening.

Monday through Friday (7/11 - 7/15): We will start each day with breakfast and morning devotionals before leaving for the worksites at 9 AM. We'll spend the day serving, break for a bagged lunch onsite, and return by 4:00 PM with time to rest/shower before dinner. After dinner each night, we will participate in a variety of activities ranging from visiting local church services, attending a local concert, and other fun. We will have one day off during the week to travel around the area on an surprise excursion.

Saturday 7/16: We'll have one last breakfast together at Cranks Creek, pack up our things, and head back to Community of Hope. We should arrive in the evening, around 5:30 PM.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?

The cost for the week is $225 per person, which includes all transportation, lodging, food, and building materials. The only thing not included in the cost is spending money to buy fast-food on our drive down and back.

WHere are we staying and where are we eating?

We will be staying at the Cranks Creek Survival Center, which has a great facility meant to welcome groups of all sizes. We'll be sleeping in dormitory-style bunk rooms, and eating meals as a group using the full on-site kitchen. There is a space on the form below where you can indicate if you have any allergies. We'll plan meals around those!
